NANJING TECH UNIVERSITY: SEEKING GRADUATE STUDENTS AND POST-DOCTORAL SCHOLARS
The School of Civil Engineering at Nanjing Tech (NJ Tech) University seeks applications from motivated undergraduate/graduate students who wish to participate in exciting research projects and earn a Masters or PhD degree under the supervision of leading international scholars. Applications are also invited from PhD students who wish to start a promising academic career by engaging in cutting-edge research. The department is embarking on a new initiative to make civil engineering at NJ Tech one of the top and preeminent research programs in the country. The new university President and the new college Dean has recently invested in several new research centers with significant funding in the following areas: Extreme loading on structures (including fire and impact); Earthquake engineering and seismology; Progressive collapse and mitigation; Sustainable design (including new materials).
GRADUATE STUDENTS: Senior undergraduate students who are motivated to expand their knowledge and expertise in exciting new areas in structural engineering are encouraged to apply to the graduate program at NJ Tech. In addition to receiving generous funding for their studies, selected students will have the prospect to work with leading professors from around the world who are beginning research collaborations with NJ Tech. This will be a unique opportunity for high-achieving students who have strong analytical or experimental skills, experience with programming, and an ability to analyze and interpret data from experiments or from computer simulations. Recruited students will be provided with guidance and resources to write technical papers in English for publication in international journals. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written (preferably in English) are desired.
POST-DOCTORAL SCHOLARS: Nanjing Tech is also looking for qualified students who are nearing completion of their PhD studies or current post-doctoral scholars from other institutions to join an international group of researchers on a variety of challenging projects. Post-doctoral scholars will conduct independent research under the guidance of international scholars and will have the ability to conduct experimental research in state-of-the-art experimental facilities, perform numerical simulations on high-performance computing clusters and also co-supervise graduate students. In collaboration with international scholars, selected post-doctoral scholars will have the opportunity to present papers at major conferences and publish papers in leading SCI journals. PhD students or current post-docs who have an excellent research record including publications (accepted or in print) in international journals are encouraged to apply.
